Lucy Ballard
grew up in Oxford. After a degree in Archaeological Conservation, and studying as a post-graduate at the Royal College of Music, she has enjoyed a wide and varied career as a freelance singer. Within the Early Music scene, she has sung and traveled the world with the Gabrieli Consort, the Tallis Scholars, the Consort of Musicke, the Monteverdi Choir, the Clerks' group and many others. In the wider music world, she sings with such as the Britten Sinfonia and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
Recent work has included Verdi’s Requiem with Sir John Eliot Gardener all over Europe, and recording the soundtrack for the latest Aardman animation, Shaun the Sheep 2! A particular joy was singing the Sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with New College School. After Orfeo, she is heading to Lisbon, Rheingau and La Chaise Dieu festivals with the Gabrieli Consort.
